Feds plan bank bailout

CNN–The federal government, in what will be its most far-reaching effort yet to contain the financial crisis, is planning to help banks dump bad mortgages. Leaders from the House and the Senate were briefed by Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke. Details of the plan are unclear, but CNNMoney reports it’s likely the government would take on tens of billions of dollars in mortgage assets.  Click to read developing story.

Law #2: Never Put Too Much Trust In Friends, Learn How to Use Enemies

Posted in Advice, Life, opinion with tags , , , , , , on September 18, 2008 by missify

Be wary of friends–they will betray you more quickly, for they are easily aroused to envy.  They also become spoiled and tyrannical.  But hire a former enemy and he will be more loyal than a friend, because he has more to prove.  In fact, you have more to fear from a friend than from enemies.  If you have no enemies, find a way to make them.

I’m  a little confused. Let me see if I have this straight…..

* If you  grow up in Hawaii, raised by your grandparents, you’re  “exotic, different.”

* Grow up in Alaska eating moose burgers,  a  quintessential American story.

* If your name is Barack you’re a  radical, unpatriotic Muslim.

* Name your kids Willow, Trig and Track,  you’re a maverick.

* Graduate from Harvard law School and you are  unstable.

* Attend 5 different small colleges before graduating, you’re  well grounded. Continue reading

You voting for him ‘just because he’s black?’

Posted in obama, opinion, Politics with tags , , , on September 16, 2008 by missify

Just Because He’s Black

A white man asked his black friend, ‘Are you voting for Barack Obama just because he’s black?’

The black man responded by saying, ‘Why not? Hell, in this country men are  pulled over everyday just cause they’re black; passed over for promotions just cause they’re black; considered to be criminals just cause they’re  black; and there are going to be thousands of you who won’t be voting for him just because he’s black! However, you do not seem to have a problem with that! This country was built with the sweat and whip off the black slaves’  back, and now a descendant of those same slaves has a chance to lead the same country, where we weren’t even considered to be people, where we weren’t allowed to be educated, drink from the same water fountains, eat in  the same restaurants, or even vote.

So yes! I’m going to vote for him! But it’s not just because he’s black, but because he is hope, he is change, and he now allows me to understand when my grandson says that he wants to be president when he grows up, it is not a fairy tale but a short term goal.  He now sees, understands and knows that he can achieve, withstand and do anything………………………. JUST BECAUSE HE’S BLACK!
